This capsule collection entitled “Take me Away” contains many artist references as well as several conceptual messages. Without saying too much and without revealing what must remain secret, here are some first clues and explanations.
At the beginning of the covid crisis in Belgium, our attention was drawn by some important and less important changes in our community. The creation of a new term : “Call & collect” for example. It seemed ... well… ugly. Moreover, the concept of going to a store or restaurant to get what you ordered was not new.
It already existed and had a name : TAKE AWAY.
Our TAKE ME AWAY capsule had found its name in an ugly phrase and a confinement we both wanted to escape from. For the sake of our ears and our souls.
Another, at 8pm every day, from our balcony, we all clapped our hands to thank and honor the nurses. They had no choice but to fight to save us, then risk their own lives. When you become a soldier or a fireman, you know in advance what that entails. The nurses didn’t know that. For them, the risk of losing their own lives was not part of the equation. But because we needed them, we didn’t ask them. We morally left them no choice, thanking them every night without having to ask… Marie took her own decision.
Finally, Richard Prince, postmodernism, Taxi Driver… and many others.
